Hi team,

On behalf of our executive leadership team and DEI Committee, I encourage you all to take a moment to recognize the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day was designated as a National Day of Service by the U.S. Congress in 1994. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist Minister and social activist who dedicated years of his life to the American civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Dr. King played a significant role in the creation of two pivotal civil rights legislations. The Civil Rights Act, passed in 1964, ended segregation in public places. This legislation also instituted the ban on employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The second legislation is the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The Voting Rights Act, passed in the U.S. Senate on May 26, 1965, followed the violent attack upon peaceful protesters marching in support of the registration of Black voters from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama on March 7, 1965.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Dr. King, Jr. in 1964 for his non-violent struggle for civil rights for the African American population. At the time, he was the youngest person to receive this prize.

At eHealth Technologies, we strive to live up to the memory of Dr. King as we make continuous efforts to build a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and engaged culture. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy statement provides us with a road map to create an inclusive workplace. Dr. King’s legacy encourages us to envision a better future and take urgent action to achieve it. In his words, “We must constantly realize that the time is always right to do what is right.”

If you have any questions about today’s observance, please feel free to reach out to our company’s DEI committee at DEI@ehealthtechnologies.com.
